Digicel, Jamaica’s bigger better network will be  providing its over 2 million customers with more value and talk time with the introduction of their newest voucher denomination, – the new JA$125 Flex Card. According to Jason Corrigan, Director of Sales for Digicel Jamaica, “the voucher value will be 125 dollars, however the retail value of the card is 150 dollars, that price includes the 20% GCT”. “This card aims to give our prepaid customers more talk time with one single voucher, which means providing them with more value”, Corrigan further noted.

The card which will be available to prepaid customers starting on Wednesday September 16th, 2009, features new female track sensation, Olympic and World Championship gold medalist Shelly Ann Fraser. Corrigan pointed out that, “having Shelly Ann on the card, shows how proud Digicel is of her achievements and also our continued support for track and field”.

As a special introductory offer, customers who top up using the new prepaid card between September 16, 2009 and September 30, 2009 will receive a 10 percent bonus credit. “We will add more value to our newest voucher by proving customer with a 10% bonus, from now until September 30th when they purchase this new Flex Card”, Corrigan further highlighted . “In everything we do, we continue to find ways to give our customers more value and this promotional offer helps us to do just that”, Corrigan ended.

Jamaica’s track star sensations Shelly-Ann Fraser and Usain Bolt were in style recognized by Digicel Jamaica in celebration of their phenomenal achievements during the 12th IAAF World Championships in Berlin by presenting them with their bonus cheques of US$20, 000 and US$100,000 each.

In a press conference held at The Courtleigh Hotel & Suites this afternoon Mark Linehan, CEO of Digicel Jamaica expressed, “Shelly Ann and Usain have made us and the entire Jamaica  extremely proud, with their tremendous accomplishment in track and field, and this is one way that Digicel wants to say thank you to both athletes”.

Linehan when further to make noted, “Our Jamaican athletes are an inspiration to all Jamaicans. We all saw how communities across the island were united in their support of the team and their quest for medal success in Berlin, so we at Digicel are we are very proud of our association with our athletes”

The CEO also used the platform to noted Digicel’s long and continued history of supporting the development of various sports in Jamaica and across the Caribbean in cricket, netball, football and athletics. “We’re committed to ensuring that aspiring young sports men and women have access to the necessary support and training to pursue and realize their dreams. It’s equally important for us at Digicel to be part of the development of sport in Jamaica as it is for us to be part of the success”, furthered Linehan.

Mark Linehan also commented that the recent diplomatic recognition to be bestowed on Usain Bolt is well deserved and timely, “we look forward to witnessing his formal conferment to be officially referred to as Ambassador at Large, the Honorable Usain St. Leo Bolt”.

Digicel is also the official sponsors of Usain Bolt since 2004 and Shelly Ann Fraser since 2008. “Sponsorships like these allow Digicel to give back value to its customers and the wider Jamaica by helping to unearth and develop young talents across all levels in Jamaica”, Linehan closed.
