Prime Minister Bruce Golding is set to depart Jamaica for Canada later today, to attend the G8 summit in Muskoka.

Deputy PM Kenneth Baugh will take over from Golding during his absence until the PM returns on Saturday.

The summit is being held to address international development and millennium development goals, as well as international peace and security issues with attention made to transnational crime such as drug trafficking.

Prime Minister Golding’s trip follows the recent arrest of Christopher ‘Dudus’ Coke, who is wanted in the United States to face gun and drug trafficking charges.

According to the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM), the Acting Permanent Secretary of the OPM Onika Miller and Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Evadne Coye will accompany the PM on his trip.
